OVER 600 CLEANTECH INNOVATIONS AGGREGATED
BY THE IBRIDGESM NETWORK
Showcasing Research from 37 University Campuses,
the iBridge Network Arrives at Clean Technology 2008
Boston, MA (June 2, 2008) – Twenty percent of the more than 3,000 innovations posted on the iBridge Web site, www.iBridgeNetwork.org, are related to the field of cleantech, in areas ranging from energy to solar and wind power to environment to sustainability. The diversity of subject areas and research topics reflects the range of expertise contained in the 37 university campus members.
The iBridge Network is a not-for-profit initiative that uses its Web site to provide understandable and searchable access to innovation developed by university and other not-for-profit research labs. By aggregating research materials, technologies, and discoveries online, innovation seekers have access to early- and late- stage research that spans the spectrum of topics from energy and the environment to cell lines and computer technologies.
With the goal of bringing researchers together and providing an outlet to bring research from ideas to the marketplace, the Network introduced its new cleantech page, www.iBridgeNetwork.org/cleantech, at Clean Technology 2008. The new page makes finding the site’s more than 600 cleantech innovations, in areas including energy, solar power, wind power, sustainability and others, even easier.
“Environment, energy, and sustainability are pressing concerns around the world and impact many important areas, from research to policy to funding. We are excited that the iBridge Network can help with the research component by pushing innovations beyond the walls of labs into the ‘real’ world,” said Laura Dorival Paglione, Director of the iBridge Network. “The potential of the collaborations created through the iBridge Network are endless.”
In light of their particular interest in the area of cleantech, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation will sponsor three of the iBridge Network member universities to attend COPENMIND 2008. The three universities attending are University of Arizona, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and University of Wisconsin at Madison. The Foundation is a supporter of COPENMIND 2008, and the iBridge Network is a program of the Kauffman Innovation Network, Inc., an initiative of the Foundation. COPENMIND will be held in September 2008 and will focus entirely on cleantech.
“The iBridge Network has helped us to expand the visibility of our innovations and reach more entrepreneurial actors across the U.S. and the world. The scope of research innovations, including sustainable and cleantech, posted on the Web site continues to grow and we expect a corresponding increase in interest in the University of Arizona’s innovations. The Network has a positive impact on highlighting university research,” said Stephen ONeil, Ph.D., Special Projects & Outreach Service, Office of Technology Transfer, University of Arizona.
Through the iBridge Network, researchers and those seeking innovations can easily search for and obtain information they need. The site provides tools to enhance their experience, including the ability to bookmark pages and make notations for personal reference. Additionally, users can make some purchases from and enter into licenses with research labs through the site. The Network continues to grow in memberships, innovations posted, and utility.
